Marjorie L Smith

Marge always knew she was to become a pastor’s wife. She attended Olivet Nazarene College, where she met the love of her life, Wally Smith, who just so happened to be called to the ministry. They served together as minister and wife for 41 years. Marge was a gifted pianist who so capably enhanced their ministry with music.

Marge also retired from the Marion Correctional Institute where she had served as a Records Clerk.

She will always be remembered for her love of all things chocolate and sweet. Her grandkids loved the sugar cookies she’d make for them.

In addition to her parents and husband of 68 years, she is preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Glaze (also a pastor’s wife); and her son, Timothy Smith, who pastored several churches in the Church of the Nazarene, including one his father had previously pastored.

She is survived by her daughters, Debi (Jerry) Bennett and Sandi (Dan) Witter; grandchildren, Jason (Kim) Bennett, Jolissa (Dan) McMenamin, Joshua (Somer) Witter, Rachelle (Jon) Costello, Carissa Smith, Kelsey Smith, and Michael Smith; great-grandchildren, Aislyn, Kynsal, and Lochlan Bennett, Zachery, Zivah, and Zaelynn McMenamin, and Jacob Witter; nephew John (Gina) Glaze; and extended family members.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-5:00 pm on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the Bethel Community Church of the Nazarene, 4400 Osborn Road, Medway, Ohio. Funeral service will follow at 5:00 pm. Interment will be held on Tuesday at Sunset Cemetery in Galloway, Ohio.
