She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert; three daughters: Ruth Ann (Mark) Wiley of Beavercreek, Mary (Kim) Allen of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Betty (Mike) Gobeil of Beavercreek; ten grandchildren: Sarah Wiley, Benjamin (Elizabeth) Wiley, Justin (Jacqueline) Wiley, Nathan Wiley, Jack (Heather) Allen, Brian Allen, Mary Kathryn Allen, Kyle Gobeil, Emily Gobeil and Mariah Gobeil; two great-grandchildren: Grace Ann Wiley and Maria Ciambrone; sisters: Martha Ralston and Margery Grace Young of Cincinnati; brother, Edward (Joyce)Young of West Union, Ohio; sisters-in-law: Phyllis Young of West Union, Ohio, Helen Mueller of Manitowoc, Wisconsin and Betty Laden of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Howard Young, and brothers-in-law, Jesse Ralston and Harold Mueller. Mary graduated from West Union High School in 1944. During WWII, at the age of 16, she moved to Dayton to begin work as a clerk typist at WPAFB. She continued to work there until her marriage to Bob on August 3, 1957. Mary’s life was one of service to others. She was an active member of Hawker Church, serving in the Women’s Guild, Children’s Programs, Sewing Circle and Food Pantry. Mary was a Red Cross Volunteer at Shaw Elementary and Ferguson Jr. High. She served the community as an Escort with the Beavercreek Senior Citizen’s Transportation Program for over 20 years. Mary was very loyal to her family. She and her siblings lovingly cared for their parents for many years so they could remain in their home until their passing. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren and instilled in them the value of a strong work ethic. She led by example, always available to lend a helping hand—babysitting, painting, taxi service, baking, or offering advice—there was no task too small nor too great for her to tackle. Mary had the gift of compassion and would lend a listening ear or offer a kind word to both friends and strangers, alike. Her love for the outdoors stemmed from her upbringing on a farm, and throughout her life she spent many hours gardening and working in her yard.
