

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford Campbell and Ola (Branch) and her husband of 36 years, Thomas Robert Norris and her brother, Hosmer “Buddy” Campbell.
Mary is survived in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Robert Norris, Jr., and Jamie Norris and daughter and son-in-law, Marie (Norris) and Tony Wassom. Mary is also survived by her three grandchildren, who she loved and adored, Gracie Norris, Nathan Norris, and Thomas (Tully) Wassom. Additionally, Mary is survived by a number nieces and nephews.
Born April 8, 1946, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Mary grew up in Dayton. Mary attended and graduated from Belmont High School in 1964. Mary worked at Good Samaritan Hospital as a nursing assistant. Mary and Tom were married on June 6, 1969. Prior to being deployed to Vietnam, Mary and Tom were stationed at the Proving Grounds in Yuma, Arizona. Mary moved back to Dayton, Ohio, while Tom was serving in United States Army. In 1972 and 1976, Mary became the mother of Tommy and Marie and became a stay-at-home provider until she started working for the Xenia City School System, serving as a Library Assistant at McKinley Elementary School and would eventually become a well-admired Kindergarten Aid at Arrowwood Elementary.
Mary immensely loved and was hugely supportive of her family. Mary belonged to several groups, all of which were in support and fellowship of her family. Mary was a member of the Ormus Caldron with her mother-in-law, Irene Norris, and sisters-in-law, Anna Norris and Caroline Smith. Mary was a Den Leader in Boy Scouts Pack #79 and a Brownies Troop #4322 Leader, and Girl Scout Troop Leader. Continuing her love for children, Mary was a President of the Mother’s Club for Ralph H. McMillan Chapter, Order of DeMolay and was an advisor for Bethel #10, Jobs’ Daughter. In 1992, Mary was elected as the State President of the State Mothers’ Club for Ohio DeMolay. Mary was a proud member of XWARN, Xenia’s Ham Radio Club, and proudly worked at various events and served with her husband as the Inside Exhibits Chairman for Dayton’s Hamvention as N8YGX.
Mary had a profound love for gardening, marching band, stage, and country music. Mary enjoyed watching Hockey and NASCAR. Mary enjoyed taking trips with her daughter and family to Put-In-Bay and loved Jimmy Buffet. Mary loved Carousel Horses and Hummingbirds, which always delighted her. Mary greatly enjoyed camping and travelling.
Mary was a fun, kind, caring, supportive, hardworking, and loving friend, daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. Nothing will compare to her, and she is greatly loved and missed by her family.
There will be a visitation for Mary held on Wednesday, March 05, 2025 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Tobias Funeral Home in Beavercreek. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 06, 2025 at 11:00am, immediately followed by burial at Valley View Memory Gardens.
