

Wellbaum, Mary Susan, age 66, of Beavercreek passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2020. She was born on August 12, 1954 in Sullivan, IN, the daughter of William Harry and Marilyn June (Carty) Thompson, both of whom preceded her in death. Mary Susan is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Michael Lee Wellbaum, of Beavercreek; two sons, Jeffrey (Lara) Wellbaum, of Middletown, Christopher (Colleen) Wellbaum, of Beavercreek; four granddaughters, Ellyn Wellbaum, Elise, Audrey and Claire Wellbaum; two sisters, Kimala (Brian) Groves, of Columbus, Ann (Nolan) Rutter, of MO; a brother, Chuck Thompson, of IN. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mary Susan was a retired Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force and employed with AFIT (Air Force Institute of Technology) for 34 years. She had a love of the outdoors, enjoying camping, hiking, birds and nature, along with a love of NASCAR. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 9:00 a.m.- 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2020 at the Tobias Funeral Home-Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road with a memorial service to follow at 10:00 a.m. Entombment with military honors will be held at the Dayton National Cemetery Columbarium.
