

Michael J.Yankee, age 58 of Beavercreek, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at his home with his family by his side following a long battle with kidney cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie and Lyle, sister Pamela Kinzel and brothers David and Randall. He will be forever in our hearts and always remembered by his wife Judy (nee’ Bradley), daughter Amy (Chad) Tindal, son Ian (Melissa) Yankee, stepsons Zachariah Hale (Brittany VanDeest) and Joshua (Laura) Hale as well as his grandchildren: Logan, Makenna, Anna, Delaney, Brianna, Madison and Harper. He also leaves two sisters; Linda (Jerry) Siedenburg and Kimberlee (John) Pannell, two brothers; Timothy (Debbie) and Patrick Yankee and in-laws Ruth, Dick, Nancy, Jeff and Greg (Bradley) as well as numerous other family and friends. Michael grew up in Flint, MI, one of eight children. He served in the United States Air Force for four years at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He attended Sinclair Community College and earned an Associate’s degree in Fire Science. His career continued at WPAFB where he became the Supervisor of the CE paint shop until his retirement in June of 2013. Michael was a loving, caring and devoted family man who brightened the lives of everyone who knew him. He awoke every day singing a new song and enjoyed singing and playing the drums with his “Man’s Club” friends. A celebration of Michael’s life will be held at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. at Grange Hall Rd. on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 2:30 PM by Reverend Brooks Heck. Friends may call on the family from 1 PM until the time of the memorial service on Saturday afternoon at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Michael’s name to The James Cancer Hospital, c/o the Development Office, 660 Ackerman Rd. PO Box 183112, Columbus, OH 43218. Noting that the contribution is in Michael’s honor will ensure it is directed toward kidney cancer research.
