

Zeljak, Milan, age 89, of Beavercreek, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at his residence. He was born on July 29, 1928 in Aliquippa, PA, the son of Dimitar and Rosie M. (Ben) Zeljak, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his devoted wife of 60 years, Florence V. Zeljak on July 9, 2016, his siblings and their spouses, Alexander (Augusta) Zeljak, George (Mae) Zeljak, Eli (Rose) Zeljak, Bronko Zeljak, Dorothy (Mile) Vukelic and Genevra Zeljak. Milan is survived by his 3 children, Cathy Zeljak, Sharon (Mark Ferguson) Zeljak, Michael (Therese) Zeljak; a brother, Robert Zeljak; a sister-in-law, Sally Zeljak; his grandchildren, Michael Zeljak, Milan (Mikki Ballweg) Zeljak, Megan and Maria Zeljak, Tyler (Paige) Ferguson. He is also survived by 1 great-grandson. Milan was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church since 1956, and was a tenor in the Serbian Orthodox Choir during his youth and young adult years. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a retired Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force Reserves and retired from Civil Service at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Milan was a devoted father, grandfather and great- grandfather, who loved to sing and was best described as a “character” with a captivating smile. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at St. Helen Catholic Church, 5100 Burkhardt Road with Father Anthony Geraci as the celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow in Valley View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the mass on Tuesday.
