

Toepfer, Nancy, age 90 of Centerville, OH, passed away September 27, 2025, at St. Leonard’s Assisted Living. Nancy is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Kenton) Stout and Cindy Baker, grandsons, Adam (Crystal) Baker & Scott (Katie) Baker and great-grandchildren, Ava Sonney, Berkley, Kensington, and Tyler Baker.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Ruby Hergenrather, her husband of 62 years, Oscar E. Toepfer, and her daughter, Judy Myers. She was the youngest of ten siblings and was preceded in death by her five brothers, Bob, Jack, Jim, Harold, and Ted and her four sisters, Mary Courtney, Syrepta Elleman, Betty Kratzer, and Pat Richardson. Nancy’s second-to-last in law, Connie Hergenrather, passed away two days before Nancy with one remaining sister-in-law, Ruth Hergenrather.
Throughout her life, Nancy most enjoyed time with her immediate family and her many sisters and brothers’ families. Her hobbies included numerous crafts and endless sewing projects. Her daughters have several gorgeous handmade quilts to cherish that Nancy made over the years. She made and donated numerous lap quilts to hospitals and St. Leonard’s.
A special thank you goes to the staff at St. Leonard’s Assisted Living who loved and cared for Nancy for the past several years. Nancy kept staff busy trying to keep tabs on her since she loved to walk everywhere she could find to walk. She was known for always having on red lipstick. Thanks to the staff member who made sure Nancy had her lipstick on during her last couple of days.
Nancy’s life will be celebrated with all of the wonderful memories. There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 31 W. Whipp Road, Dayton, OH 45459 or Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420.
