How do we begin to tell you about our mother, Patricia “Pat” Crouch? She was a wonderful, caring, kind and loving person. She was funny, smart and so compassionate. Pat was really loved by everyone she met, she was the life of the party, not in a get drunk and fall way, but she kept people laughing and having fun. Not only was she all these things, she was also determined, feisty and fiercely protective of all she loved. Pat didn’t take any crap either. In her early life as a cashier at a local supermarket, some boys played a nasty prank on her in the lady’s room, she showed them who was boss, and we bet these boys still talk about it to this day. We can’t tell you what she did, because it was most likely somewhat criminal. Deciding this was not the career path for her, she went back to school and proudly worked at DESC. She moved up the civil service ranks and received numerous awards. She served on the BRAC committee and went on many TDY assignments. Pat ended her career at the DSCC base in Columbus, Ohio. After retirement, she and our dad, Ron Crouch moved back to the Dayton area, their hometown.
Pat was born in Cincinnati to Bessie and Vasco Hamlin, in 1941. She spent much of her childhood in Corbin, Kentucky with her beloved grandparents, and cousins. Pat was married to the love of her life, Ronald Crouch for nearly 55 years. They met at a local dance and loved each other madly. Together they are survived by their 2 daughters, Linda Crouch-Roepken (Jim) and Lisa Russell. Grandchildren, Joshua Russell (Crystal Hartsell) Corey Roepken, Amy Meredith (Greg), and great grandchildren, Forrest Russell, Henry Meredith, Evelyn Meredith, Archer Meredith and Ezekiel Meredith, Aiden Hartzell, Ezzrrae Simpkins Staelii Mills. In addition, Pat is survived by her sisters Candace Barnett McCoy (Barry), Pamala Douglas (Dave), her nieces Cathy Convery (Milo Milkovich), Cindy Welch (Randy) and her very best friend in the world Karen Stewart (Joe). Pat had many friends and was beloved by them all.
Pat is preceded by in death by her husband, Ronald Crouch, her mother Bessie Fardy, her father Vasco Hamiln, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Patty and Robert Crouch.
Our mom will be missed by us her daughters, all her family and friends. We wish to thank the caring staff at Hidden Springs Senior Living in Springboro, OH. Their care, love and compassion was truly appreciated by her family and by Pat.
