Paul Takara

TAKARA, Paul Jintoku, age 89 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023. Paul, son of Okinawan immigrants, Kana and Otome Takara, was born April 1, 1934, the last of eight children. He and his siblings, Ronald Kotaro, Pat Tomiko, Mack Kosuke, Andy Koye, Bob Isamu, Jerry Haruo and Jane Momoe grew up in Chin Chuk Stable Camp in Hilo, Hawaii. He went to Hakalau School before moving with his parents to Honolulu in 1950 where he attended and graduated from St. Louis High School in 1952. He moved to Ohio to attend the University of Dayton where he converted to the Catholic faith and met and married Mildred, his bride of 56 years. Paul was a most loving and devoted husband and father. His calm presence and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all the members of his family.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mildred, son Ronald F. and two daughters, Paulette and Jennifer.

He is survived by four daughters, Teresa (Chris) Harting of Columbus, Joan (Stephen) Uyehata of Huber Heights, Janice (Kristian) Lansangan of Dayton and Angela (Dominic) Santoleri of Mason;

as well as 26 grandchildren; Paula (Louis) Uecker, Benjamin (Johanna) Harting, Daniel (Danae) Harting, Nicholas Harting, Rose Harting, Jacinta Harting, Michael Harting, Gianna Harting, Michael Uyehata, Gemma Uyehata, Corrina (Antonio) Parker, Nathaniel (Marie) Lansangan, Amancio (Marissa) Lansangan, Isabella (Jashawn) Johnson, Samuel Lansangan, Maurita Lansangan, Joseph Lansangan, Christian Lansangan, Gianna Lansangan, George Lansangan, Nick Santoleri, Elissa Santoleri, James Santoleri, Louis Santoleri, Carlo Santoleri, Paul Santoleri,

and 13 great grandchildren; Mary, Edith, Clare, Martin, Anna, Felicity, Isaac, Gabe, Iker, Emmanuel, Israel, Aiko, and Amiya.

A praying of the rosary for Paul will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Rosary, 22 Notre Dame Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45404. A mass of christian burial will occur Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 10:00 AM, 22 Notre Dame Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45404. A burial will occur Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Calvary Cemetery, 1625 Calvary Dr., Dayton, Ohio 45409.
