

EISENACH, Robert Charles, age 94, of Centerville, Ohio, died Christmas Day 2018. Robert C. Eisenach was born December 1, 1924 in Neenah, Wisconsin to Lawrence and Mabel Eisenach. After graduation from Neenah High School in 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, was commissioned an ensign, and served aboard USS LST 245 in invasions of the Philippines and Borneo during the South Pacific operations. After his discharge as a Lieutenant JG, he entered Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, where he ran varsity track and was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He graduated with a bachelors’ degree in economics in 1948. The following year he received a masters’ in letters degree from the University of Pittsburgh. After serving as a sales representative for the Kimberly Clark corporation in Texas, he returned in 1951 to Northwestern University, where he had attended Midshipman’s School. He earned his MBA degree and went to work for the Mead Paper corporation in Dayton, Ohio, where he served in various executive positions within the paper division and on the corporate staff until his retirement in 1983. During his time in the paper industry, he served as Chairman of several committees within the American Paper Institute, was a United States delegate to the Food and Agriculture Committee of the United Nations in Rome on world forest product matters, and was appointed by the Secretary of Commerce and U.S. Trade Representative as an advisor on paper industry issues during the World Trade Organization rounds in Washington and Geneva, Switzerland. He also served as Chairman of the Southern Ohio Export Counsel, and chaired the Advisory Committee for International Studies at the University of Dayton. He was a long-term member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Dayton Country Club, and of the Midshipman’s School Alumni Association of Northwestern University. He also served on the boards of directors of Gilbert & Nash Company and Appleton Machine Company of Appleton, Wisconsin and Helsinki, Finland. He was preceded in death by his sister Betty Spoo and daughter Sandra Lee Eisenach. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Wanda Lee Eisenach; son Jeffrey Eisenach of Fairfax, VA; daughter Leigh Ann Eisenach of Jacksonville, NC; grandchildren Antonelli Briceno of Brooklyn, NY, Sarah Linden of Nokesville, VA and Andrew R. Eisenach of Centreville, VA; and two great grandchildren, Noah and Hannah Linden. A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 30, 2018. The United States Navy will render Military Honors. The family requests donations in lieu of flowers be made in his name to Westminster Presbyterian Church.
