He was born on August 25, 1939 to Mamie(Carter) and Robert Turvy in London, Ohio. Roger was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jim(Connie)Turvy.
As a Captain in the United States Marine Corps, Roger proudly served his country and was most often seen wearing his Marine Corps hat. He had a passionate love for football, which began at London High School and continued with a four year athletic scholarship at Miami University in Oxford, where he served as his team's captain while winning a MAC Championship. After graduating from Miami University he went on to receive his Masters from the Ohio State University. Roger was a math teacher and high school football coach for a few years and then worked in sales for the 3M Corporation. He was a founder of Miami Computer Supply Company in Dayton and retired in 1999. Roger's first love was his four children and family. He was the best dad and a loving husband. He enjoyed good dinners, traveling to the beach, meeting his buddies at Panera, and watching sports.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, Betty, daughters Shannon(Chris)Calvin, Mary(Patrick)Hudepohl, sons Troy(Rebecca) and Jimmy, sister Nancy(Don)Long and brother Jack(Marla)Turvy. He will be missed by his grandchildren Jake, Matt, Lily, Ewan and Asa along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends whom he enjoyed spending time with.
A celebration of Roger's life will be held with a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 29, 2018 10:30AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church. The family encourages everyone to wear something red in honor of Roger's favorite color and all of his accomplishments. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Miami University Red & White Club, Bishop Fenwick High School, or Ohio Hospice of Dayton.
