

Ruby G Smith, age 97, of Moraine, Ohio was called home on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 surrounded by her family. Ruby was born in Nelson County, Kentucky. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Viola Mattingly; husbands, Ray Gordon, Charles "Windy" King, Nelson T. "Smitty" Smith; son, Charles Ray Gordon; granddaughter, Shannon Rae Gordon; grandson, Kit Helton; great-great grandson, Colson Allen, Austin & Aidan Gordon, Cooper Finn Gordon, Orion Gordon; brothers, Billy, James, June, W.C. and sister, Frances. Ruby's legacy lives on through her sons, Paul (Judy) Gordon, Ed Gordon, Danny Gordon, Gary Gordon (Sherry), Jeff (Becky) Gordon; daughters, Rita (Tom) Mikels, Patty Gordon; grandchildren, Nicole, Paul Jr., Marrianne, Debbie, Danny II, Tammy, Gary Jr., Tim, Bryan, Jesse, Robbie, Ronnie, Shawn; 34 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; brother, Shelby Mattingly as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and her companion, Baby.
She was an avid bowler in her younger days, she loved to dance and listen to the bands. Ruby also loved to travel, cook (especially chocolate pies) and drink margaritas. She was never afraid to make her voice heard, emphasized by pointing. Ruby was also one of the bravest and courageous women ever known. She loved to watch her great- grandchildren play sports. Ruby spoiled every grandchild and great-grandchild when given the chance. She loved going to China Cottage, Cracker Barrel, Old Hickory and Chiapas. She never met a stranger, always called them a friend. When it came to Ruby's family, her heart knew no bounds. Ruby was a member of AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Post 464 Huber Heights.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Dayton for their love and care of Ruby, especially Angie Harrod. And a special thank you to Susan Gordon Liddy for all of her love and support. The family would also like to thank the AMVETS organization for giving her a place to belong and for their love and support. Thank you to Pastor John Swint for a lifetime of love, support and friendship.
A visitation for Ruby will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Tobias Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd, Dayton, Ohio 45432. A flower service will be held at 7pm in remembrance of Ruby performed by The Ladies Auxiliary 464. A funeral service will occur Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Tobias Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel with Pastor John Swint. Ruby will be laid to rest in Mt. Zion Shoup Cemetery, Beavercreek , Ohio. There will be a Celebration of Life following the burial at AMVETS Post 464 Huber Heights, 5420 Brandt Pike Huber Heights, Ohio 45424.
