Ruth Marian Hall, aged 99, of Dayton, Ohio, left this life on June 7, 2024, in her hometown of Dayton. She was born on February 21,1925, into a raucous loving family, the baby of seven children. Growing up in north Dayton, she attended public schools, graduating in 1943 from Kiser High School. Before her career work with Delco Products Corporation, she spent time playing trumpet with an all girls band and then forming her own band, the Ruth Hall Orchestra. Besides working more than 30 years, she spent time following her beloved UD Flyers for many seasons, holding season tickets so she could cheer them on in person. She also enjoyed spending time at her house on Indian Lake, hosting family and friends there.
Because she had such a long life, she outlived her parents, Francis Marian Hall and Julia Jane Chaplin Hall; as well as her siblings Mark Russell Hall, Vera Catherine McFadden, Dorothy Jane Howe, Gene Ralph Hall, Richard Vernon Hall and Roy Edmond Hall. She also outlived her lifelong companion Audrey Fink; her niece Judi Hall (who Ruth helped raise); nephews Craig Hall, Ronald Hall, David Brown and many other relatives and friends. She is survived by her nieces and nephews Dorothy Louise Green, Dennis McFadden, William Howe, Karen Frey, Linda Sartin, Cindy McNamara, Sherry (Gene) Goubeaux and many other great nieces and nephews, family members and friends.
The family would like to thank the Home Instead caregivers for the support they gave Ruth. There were many who came to be with her, but we’d especially like to thank Angela, Nadine, Amy, Ellen and Megan. Thanks so much to all the professional kind understanding people at Hospice of Dayton who worked around the clock to ensure Ruth was comfortable in her last days. We will be forever grateful.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 18th at Tobias Funeral Home: 5471 Far Hills Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, 45429, with visitation beginning at 10:00. A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at 11:00, followed by internment at Woodland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice of Dayton, who cared lovingly for Ruth during her last days.
