Sara “Sally” Elizabeth Delaney was 91 years old when she died peacefully on July 14, 2025, at Marjorie P. Lee Retirement Community in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born in 1934 in Vandalia, Ohio, the daughter of Catherine Mary Trimbach (Gaible) and Edward Joseph Trimbach, she graduated from Kettering Fairmont High School in 1952. Sally married her husband, Robert “Bob” Claire Delaney in August 1956 and they shared a life together for 57 years while raising their four children.
Sally’s priority was always family, and she showered each one with love and kindness. Her children and grandchildren knew her playful spirit and flourished with her undivided attention. She was quick with a smile, a keen listener and supportive of any endeavor that was of interest to each member. Sally is proud of her family, and she expressed the importance of humility as a characteristic all should exemplify. She was the consummate summer camp counselor for family and friends. Many times, known to come home with a hint of grit and mud as she navigated the trails, creek beds and open spaces so her kids could experience all things flora and fauna. The life she lived reflected her deepest values and priorities. Like so many of her peers, there was a consistency among her beliefs, her actions and her conversation. Her life was rooted in a relationship with God.
For many years, Sally was a school teaching assistant for students at Driscoll Elementary in Centerville, Ohio. She was blessed with caring instincts and a nurturing spirit which children found comfort and inspiration to celebrate each day with their school mates and family. Sally was an advocate and volunteer for developmentally delayed youth both in the school setting as well as Special Olympics.
Sally's parents, Catherine and Joseph, siblings Phillip, Nancy and David, her husband, Bob and her son Tom (Mary Jo), precede her in death. Her children Chuck (Laurie), Rick (Carol) and Jenny (Lee), grandchildren Nathan (Maureen), Scott (Krissy), Annie (Jared), Michael (Samantha), Sarah, Sean (Joshua), Anna, Lee, Katie, great grandchildren Charlie, Caroline, Emerson, Sylvia, River, Barron, Maddox, Eleanor and Finn, survive her. Sally was a faithful friend to all, an enthusiast for nature, a fan of athletics and activities, found joy in pets and animals, and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Sally Trimbach Delaney - a life well lived. Sally’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the compassion and care provided by the care teams with Marjorie P. Lee and Hospice of Cincinnati. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Sara and Robert Delaney Endowed Scholarship in support of Developmental Disabilities at The Ohio State University (www.giveto.osu.edu/makeagift/details/641630) , or Hospice of Cincinnati (https://hospiceofcincinnati.org/donate).
