

SORG, Sharon Ann (Long) age 69 of Tipp City, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013 having been an inspiration to so many while living with ovarian cancer for 22 years. Sharon was born on October 14, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Haywood and Hilda Marie (Gottes) Long. She is survived by her loving husband and constant supporter of 48 years, Richard “Dick” Sorg along with three sons, Rick (Cindy), Dave (Candace) and Steve (Bambi), six grandchildren Bradley, Benjamin, Hanna, Meghan, Wyatt and Haley and two sisters Shirley Barbee and Susan Zember and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Sharon was a graduate of Fairmont High School, Sinclair Community College with a degree in nursing and the University of Dayton where she earned a BS in Education. She retired from Kettering Medical Center as an RN after 30 years of service while working as a Staff Nurse, Computer Nurse Coordinator and Child Birth Educator. Prior to retirement one of her proudest accomplishments was developing and managing the Precious Beginnings Home Care program for Kettering Medical Center which allowed nurses to visit with mother and baby at home after delivery. Sharon enjoyed spending time traveling and visiting with friends and especially time spent with her grandchildren at sporting events, annual family vacations and many family celebrations. She will be remembered for her positive attitude in the face of adversity and her sincere kindness and caring of all those she came in contact with. The family would like to thank Kettering Medical Center and especially Dr. Joseph Lavelle for his compassion and caring over these many years. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00PM Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 411 East Second St. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) www.ovarian.org 2501 Oak Lawn Ave. Suite 435, Dallas, TX 75219 in memory of Sharon.
