Steve was deeply loved by his family and will be remembered for the steady, quiet presence he brought to their lives. Those closest to him knew a man who was kind, thoughtful, and gentle, with a calm strength that shaped the way he lived and cared for others. He also carried a quick, dry wit and playful, ornery streak—often getting his older brother, Dave, into trouble and bringing quiet laughter to those around him. His subtle sense of humor was easy to miss if you weren’t paying close attention, but those who knew him well appreciated it deeply. His life was marked by humility, faithfulness, and love for his family.
Steve graduated from Centerville High School, Class of 1969, and attended Bowling Green State University. He devoted more than 30 years of dedicated service to General Motors/Delphi before retiring in 2005.
Steve was a faithful attender of Fairhaven Church. His family finds comfort in the promise of eternal life through his faith in the death and resurrection of his Savior, Jesus Christ, and the hope of seeing him again in Heaven.
Steve loved his family deeply and treasured time spent together above all else. He had a special love for animals, enjoyed the outdoors, valued time spent traveling, and had a lifelong passion for golf, spending many mornings on the course with friends and taking annual golf trips to Myrtle Beach. He also possessed an exceptional gift for numbers, able to work through complex calculations in his head with ease.
Steve is survived by his best friend and love of his life, Anna “Annie” Leach; his sons, Mick (Jen) and Joel; Annie’s daughter, Katrena Bodley (Dylan); Annie’s stepdaughters, Kristin Crews (John) and Jennifer Pennington (Neil); and his grandchildren, Alyssa Rivas (Alex), Justin (Melina), Josh (Summer), Addy, Levi, Lia, Luke, Lydia, Ephraim, Elias, Zeb, and Obie, Noah and Ryleigh Bodley; his great-granddaughters, Eliana Rivas and Eloise Rivas; along with many other beloved grandchildren and extended family members. He is also survived by his brother, Dave (Bev).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Thelma Leach; his previous wife, Terry (Tate); and his grandson, Alex Leach. Earlier in life, he shared many meaningful years of marriage with Susie Ghearing, with whom he raised his two sons. Pastors James Futrell and David Ringhiser officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. at Fairhaven Church, 637 E. Whipp Road, Centerville, Ohio 45459.Rev. James Futrell and Rev. David Ringhiser officiating
