

Boots, Suzanne Marie (Burke) Age 78, of Xenia passed away March 11, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo J. And Margaret T. Burke and step-son Roy Boots. Survived by her husband Thomas Boots; son Jeffrey Rea; step-daughter Carolyn Smith (Robert); granddaughter Tabitha Rea; step-grandchildren Rachel Dunham (Justin) and Nicholas Smith; step-great grandchildren Koda Dunham, Ezra Dunham and Aria Dunham. She graduated from St. Bernard’s High School in New London, CT., received a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana State University and a Master’s degree from the University of Dayton. Suzanne taught elementary and high school in Ozark, AL. She also worked for the Vigo County Health Department, Terre Haute, IN; the Greene County Health Department, Xenia, OH; the Montgomery County Health Department, Dayton, OH, where she was a health educator and public information specialist. She authored the article in Ohio’s Health on the Health Department’s role in the 1974 Xenia tornado, she was the Assistant Director of Public Relations for Good Samaritan Hospital, the Marketing Director for Town and Country Shopping Center in Kettering, OH and later founded Senses Home Fragrances, which she owned successfully for 12 years. After retiring she spent more time with her family, playing golf and traveling until her stroke in 2014. For 7 years she was taken care of by her devoted husband and many skilled assistants until 2021 when she was moved to St. Leonard’s in Centerville, OH and again taken great care of by wonderful nurses and staff. She was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church, in Kettering. Gathering of Family And Friends, 2 to 3:30 pm Saturday, March 16, 2024 at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Road, Dayton OH 45429. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to SICSA.org where she used to volunteer.
