Ted was born December 26, 1929 in Dayton, Ohio. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1947 and Miami Jacobs Business College. Ted served his country faithfully in the Army while stationed in France during the Korean War. He continued his support of the Armed Services by becoming a member of the VFW. Through the founding of Popoff Financial Services, Ted provided tax expertise to many clients throughout the years. He was a devoted and faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church. Next to his faith, family was an essential aspect of Ted’s life. He was a wonderful and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather “Dedo”, always supporting his family in every way possible. Ted lived his life with eternal optimism despite losing his vision many years ago. He had a knack for storytelling and a sense of humor that was notorious. As a lifelong sports fan, Ted was always up to date on the latest scores and team news. Ted touched many lives and will always be remembered as witty and positive with a keen mind until the very end.
He is preceded in death by parents, George and Mitra Popoff, loving wife of 70 years Carolyn Popoff, sister Mary Luther, brother Carl Popoff, and son in law Michael Mehlhorn.
Ted is survived by children Pamela Mehlhorn and Stephanie Dickerson (David); grandchildren Adrianne (Ryan) Sullivan, Christopher (Karly) Mehlhorn, Elizabeth (Robert) Ballinger, and Andrew Dickerson; great grandchildren Crosley Sullivan, Ellery Sullivan, Grayson Mehlhorn, Emerson Mehlhorn, and Emma Ballinger.
