Born in Somerset Kentucky on September 29, 1927 to John Marion Meece and Sarah Jane Meece (Baker). He grew up in rural Kentucky with his 9 brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters (Stella, Delphia, Okra, Edna) and brothers (Roy, Alton, Curt, Earl, Chester). Joan, his beloved wife of 75 years, recently passed away on December 27, 2023. He is survived by daughter Vickie McQuay (Bill) and son John Meece.
He married his wife Joan on August 21, 1948. After serving in the Navy during World War II, he worked at General Motors (downtown Dayton Delco plant and the Kettering plant) until his retirement.
He loved to garden and work on his daughter’s farm after his retirement. Before his vision prevented him from driving, there were frequent camping and fishing trips along with some wonderful vacations. He enjoyed tinkering around in his garage workshop and you could usually find him fixing/repairing something for someone or finding a way to make something work better.
Per his wishes, he will be cremated with no visitation or funeral service.
