

Born on August 19th, 1939, to Dattatraya Phadke (father) and Sulochana Phadke (mother), Vijay grew up in Pune, Maharashtra, India. He joined the Indian Navy at the early age of 17 and was stationed at INS Shivaji. He was then selected to join the 28th class of Royal Naval academy, London, UK as an electrical artificer. His legacy will be remembered for being commissioned on INS Vikrant, the first Indian naval aircraft carrier, where he served in Naval Aviation. After retiring from the Indian Navy, he continued to work in the civil sector as an electrical engineer with Thermax Pvt. Ltd. in Pune.
A man of discipline and simplicity, Vijay always made sure to put a smile on the face of anyone that he interacted with. Well versed in many languages, he always made sure to bestow wisdom and knowledge to anyone that had the pleasure of spending time with him. He truly lived a long and happy life. He will be greatly missed.
Vijay is survived by his wife Jayashree Phadke, his son and daughter-in-law, Atul and Pratibha Phadke, his daughter and son-in-law, Asmita and Shashank Gokhale, his grandson, Aditya Phadke, and, his granddaughters Sanjana Gokhale, Anjali Phadke, and Sampada Gokhale.
Funeral Rites will be performed, 1:00 pm, Thursday, November 3, 2022 at the funeral home by Priest Ashwani Kumar from the Dayton Hindu Temple.
