Our Mother, Violet M. Walsh, age 92, of Dayton, Ohio, died on Monday, January 21, 2013. We lost the beacon that lit the way. She showed us love by loving. She showed us kindness by being kind. Her life was simple and through it she mirrored its message – life is really all about love. Now don’t get the impression that she was only sweetness and light. When her Italian temper flared, it was like a hurricane and you’d best take cover. And if you messed with her Kids, it wasn’t pretty. She showed us how to take a stand, by standing up. She will be so missed by all the lives she touched. Violet was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Thomas Walsh and her two daughters: Barbara Fuson and Mary Elkins. She is survived by her two sons: Mike and Joseph Walsh; five daughters: Theresa Cure, Katie Walsh, Pat Hammond, Anna Fricker, and Margaret Walsh-Cotton; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 1great-great-grandchild. Violet worked at the American Red Cross for 20 years. She loved children, sewing, doing yoga, and gardening. Violet will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 9:30 am. Visitation will be held at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME – Belmont Chapel, 648 Watervliet at Fauver, on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made in Violet’s memory to the American Heart Association, 5455 North High Street, P.O. Box 163549, Columbus, Ohio 43216.
