Wanda Marie McLain

McLain, Wanda Marie (Shemwell), age 85, of Fairborn, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at the Summit of Park Hills. She was born on August 14, 1930 in Elkton, KY to Finis N. and Mary Virginia (Snead) Shemwell, who preceded her in death. Wanda was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Richard L. (Dick) McLain, her son, Michael McLain and a sister, Betty Wellmeier. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Wanda is survived by her four children, Daniel (Marilyn) McLain, of Fairborn, Gail (Mark) Hopkins, of Fairborn, Ginny (Tim) Lindsey, of New Carlisle, and Scott McLain, of Xenia; a sister, Marjory Shemwell, of Kettering; a brother, Bill (Barbara) Shemwell; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Wanda was a member of the United Christian Church and was attending the Berean Baptist Temple. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff of Trinity Fast Track, The Summit of Park Hills and Hospice of Dayton for the wonderful loving care given to their mother and grandmother. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road. Pastors Lonnie Bocook and Joe Hofmann will be officiating. Interment will follow in Miami Valley Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2016. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in memory of Wanda.
