Zane lived a life of benevolence, analysis, love, thought, guidance and teaching.
He is survived by immediate family: his Wife Jaqueline A. Haught, Daughter Jill A. Haught, Son Jason M. Haught, Grandchildren Alexander J. Lawrence, Julia A. Haught. Jackson Z. Haught, Samuel P. Haught and Great Grandchild Nobel C. Coulombe. All of whom he supported with his knowledge, time and love.
Zane came from a very meager upbringing in the small river town in South Eastern Ohio, Sardis, with a population of 559. With 2 sisters and 1 brother. He was the first of his family to graduate from college where he attended Ohio University and studied accounting. After school with his auditing skills he was quickly snatched up by the national accounting firm Touche Ross, currently known as Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu or DTT International. This is where he really honed his skill for accounting theory and business operations. In 1963 He married Jaqueline A. Farrier. In 1968 his daughter Jill A. Haught was born and in 1970 his son Jason M. Haught was born. Zane developed his entrepreneurial spirit and partnered in several accounting firms over the years, including Haught & Short. Taylor Haught & Cohen and Cohen, Haught & Norman.
By being involved in business accounting and auditing he was exposed to a struggling manufacturing firm in Jamestown Ohio – Jamestown Plastic Molders. Which he turned around and then purchased. He then open 2 more locations and operated those until the early 2000s. Over the years he served on several boards, most notably South Community Mental Health, worked with the Centerville Schools in building development and always volunteered to take care of his church’s accounting needs. He touched too many personal friends, family and business professionals as a mentor to mention. With Zane’s support and guidance his family started Bathroom Alternatives, Inc. in July 1996. To bring the National Franchise, Bath Fitter, to the Dayton and surrounding areas. He always encouraged entrepreneurial spirit and self-help to his family and those around him.
He loved playing and watching Basketball! He loved cars old and new alike! He loved his family and loved to teach and support small business.
We will miss him greatly but cherish the opportunity we had to learn from him, be loved by him and to work next to him!
May He Rest in Peace knowing his benevolence and knowledge has touch so many!
Zane was surrounded by family at his passing and it was his wish not to have any formal services after his death. Any desired contributions can be made to Hospice of Dayton in his memory.
