Services for Elizabeth Johnson will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 10:00am at DeKalb Baptist Church with Rev. James Ruffin and Rev. Richard Hill officiating. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS at 1:30pm. Stephens Funeral Home in DeKalb is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Johnson, 71, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017 in Meridian. She was a Marine veteran and had a Master’s Degree in Church Music from the New Orleans Theology Seminary. She also had an Undergraduate Degree from Mississippi State in Music and member of the Mississippi State Band and Madrigal Choral Group. Elizabeth was involved in various church choirs; her main loves were her music and animals. She was involved in the Meridian Little Theatre and a former member of the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce and Civic League.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James E. and Rosemary Johnson.
She is survived by her sister: Becky (David) Calvert; nephews: Jeb Pittman, Rusty (Hunter) Calvert, Billy Adam (Jessica) Calvert, Dave Calvert; brother-in-law: Dr. Billy Calvert; numerous cousins and her special pets.
Pallbearers will be Jim Hobgood, Kevin Barefield, Dr. Billy Calvert, Rusty Calvert, Billy Adam Calvert and Jimmy Spinks.
Music will be provided by soloists: Ginger Grissom and Rev. Richard Hill; pianists: Elaine Tisdale and Wayne McInnis.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 21, 2017 from 4:30 to 7:00pm at Stephens Funeral Home in DeKalb.
