Barbara Nell Brackin Stewart

Barbara Nell Brackin Stewart, 88, of Decatur, AL, passed away Wednesday, July 12 at her residence. The funeral service will be held Friday, July 14, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home on Danville Rd, Decatur, Alabama with Reverend Scotty Hogan officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at Hardshell Cemetery in Town Creek, AL. There will be no graveside service following the funeral service.

She is survived by her son, Marty (Lane) Stewart; her grandchildren, Luke (Emily) Stewart, Regan Stewart, and Brackin Stewart; her great grandchildren, Henry Hoyt Stewart, Molly Frances Stewart, and Thomas Allen Stewart; her siblings, Vona Elkins, Reba Sibley, and Wayne (Darlene) Brackin; her sisters-in-law, Judy Gilliland and Syble Tidwell, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Buford and Earline Brackin; her husband, James Norman Stewart, and her brother Buddy Brackin.

Barbara graduated from Hazelwood High School and attended Albright Business College. She worked for South Central Bell Company for 30 years and was a faithful member of Westmeade Baptist Church. She loved people, never met a stranger, cared for her family, and prayed for them daily. She was a good cook and was known for her praline candy.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Sibley, Carlos Sibley, Barry Brackin, Perry Brackin, Andy Elkins, Scotty Brackin, Shane Gilliland and Chris Gilliland.
