

Carl Edward Norris, 83, of Green Cove Springs, Florida, passed away on April 27, 2016. A graveside service will be held on May 1, at Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur, Alabama. Bro. Roger Jenkins will be officiating.
Carl was born on September 8, 1932 in Flint, Alabama to Asa E. Norris and Mildred Horn Watson. Carl married Elizabeth Webster in 1953. Carl was an active member of the United States Navy from 1950 – 1968, when he retired in July. In his tenure in the Navy, Carl served in the Korean War from 1950 – 1953. During his life, Carl and Liz ran an IBM data processing center, worked security jointly with CIA and NSA. Was credit manager for Montgomery Wards, operated two Gulf service stations in Maryland and an Exxon in West Palm Beach, Florida. In 1973, Carl and Liz opened their successful business, Norris Garage in Forest Heights, Maryland. In 1990, Mr. Norris moved to Green Cove Springs, Florida to enjoy his retirement. Of the many things Carl loved to occupy his time with, his favorites were bass fishing, watching his favorite football teams and old western movies, flying small aircraft and eating southern food.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Asa E. Norris, Mildred Horn Watson, and step-father, Joseph Watson; his beloved wife of 54 years, Elizabeth "Liz" Norris; daughter, Lynda DiAngelo; and grand-daughter, Christina Poetzman.
He is survived by his son, Joseph Norris and wife Sarah, of Owings, Maryland; grandchildren, David Norris, Teresa Oaks, Olivia Norris, and Katherine Norris; and great-grandchildren, Darius Jacobus and Darian Poetzman.
