Celeste Stroup

Celeste was born on June 11, 1954 in Sheffield AL, to Jim and Virginia Terry. Celeste graduated from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and began working for North Central Alabama Regional Council of Governments (NARCOG) in Decatur, AL. She worked her entire career for NARCOG and retired as the Director of Finance in 2018 with 34 years of service.

She was a member of Ninth Street Methodist from 1977 until its closure in 2017 when Ninth Street merged with The Church at Stone River.

She loved summertime when she spent days with her family on the Tennessee river riding jet skis, water sports, fishing in the evenings and enjoying boating at sunset. She loved to travel and to support original local artists. Her favorite vacations were when the entire family was together. She was a member of the Huntsville Ski Club where she would frequently travel to ski resorts across the United States. Her favorite ski resort was Steamboat Springs Colorado because of the great skiing, beautiful mountain view, and of course the great shopping. She would do anything for her grandkids and cherished them with all her heart.

Celeste is survived by her loving husband Ron Stroup and dog Annabelle, children Todd (Jessica) Stroup and Britney (Jeremy) Green, grandchildren Hayden Witt, Hadley Stroup, Emmy Stroup, Owen Green, Graham Green, and Sibyl Green. She was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Virgina Terry, brother Jimmy Terry, in-laws, Vernon Lane and Lola Lane.

A funeral service will be held on August 3, 2025 at 3:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 2:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Valley.
