
Charles Wesley DuBois, age 89, died at his home Friday, August 22, 2014. Charles was born in Cherokee, Alabama to Mattie Camila and James William DuBois on September 11, 1924. Upon graduation from high school in Tuscumbia, AL. he joined the U.S. Army where he served with distinction in several theaters including New Guinea and the Philippines throughout WWII. After the war, he attended Auburn University and graduated with a B.S. in Biology in 1951. After graduation he moved to Pensacola, FL where he met and married his wife, Elizabeth Ann Wilson. They were married for 59 years. His 30
year career with Monsanto began in Pensacola and ended here in Decatur where he was employed for the majority of those years.
Charles was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Decatur, AL. He enjoyed working for many years with the youth Sunday school classes keeping records and assisting wherever he could. He loved traveling and spending time outdoors, hiking and camping with his wife and family. He was an accomplished hunter, fisherman, spouse, father, grandfather and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother and his wife Liz. He is survived by his three daughters: Dawn DuBois of Los Angeles, CA; Lesley DuBois Jones (David) of Nashville; Kendal DuBois Moores (Jack) of Decatur; and five grandchildren, Charles Curran Moores, Wesley Cole Jones, Kendal Summar DuBois Jones, Elizabeth “Lily” Grace Hess; Jon Holman Moores III.
Funeral services will be on Monday, August 25, 2014 at 10:30 am, in the chapel of First Baptist Church of Decatur. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until time of service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetary. Rev. Roger Jenkins will officiate.
