
Burial will be in Roselawn cemetery. Visitiation will be tonight from 5 to 7 at Roselawn Funeral Home.
Mr. McRae, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, died April 15, 2010, at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. He was born September 3, 1939 in Decatur to Claude Bennett McRae and Rhoda Bryant McRae. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved daughter, Pamela Ann McRae.
Mr. McRae is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Ann Nance McRae; his son, Carey Bennett McRae (Amy); and his grandchildren, Eleanor Ann and Cooper Bennett McRae; his sister, Betty McRae Porter (Charles); sister-in-law, Carolyn Roan Jones; and his nephews, Gary Porter (Elizabeth), Jim Jones (Dawn), Jeff Jones, and Nick Jones (Cassie).
After graduating from Decatur High School, Mr. McRae earned a business degree from the University of Alabama. He also graduated from the University of Alabama Law School with a Juris Doctor degree.
Mr. McRae was a judge for a total of 30 years in Morgan County. He became a county judge in 1965, began serving as a district judge in 1977 and became a circuit court judge in 1983. He retired from the circuit court bench in 1995.
Mr. McRae was a member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church and a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Decatur.
In lieu of flowers the family would request donations be made to the National Reye's Syndrome Foundation, 426 North Lewis Street, P.O. Box 829, Bryan, Ohio 43506.
