
David, 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at his home. He was born and raised in Tennessee and he grew up on Milky Way Farm in Pulaski.
David was in the National Guard and was called to serve active duty in the Army during the Korean War. He worked at Tru-Line in Decatur up until retirement. He enjoyed watching Nascar and listening to country music.
He is survived by his wife, Lorene Barr; children and step-children, Hope Alexander, Jean Roden, Phillip Barr, Regina Bodley, Diane Lovelace, Deby Benson (Chuck) and Lemont Hardy; brother, Lawrence Barr; grandchildren, Haley Alexander (Jawan), Jacob Alexander (Samantha), Christine Pointer, Heather Roden, Skye Benson (Breno), Zoey Benson and Brittany Bodley (Pablo); and great grandchildren, Rohan and Talia Porter, Riley Faith and Slaton Alexander, Anne Marrie, Daylen, Darian and Dallas Pointer, Jayden Hubbard and Bailey Roden.
David was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Barr; parents Flournoy and Ruth Barr; brothers, James Barr and Charles Barr; Sister, Nellie Barr and son, Joe Barr.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Southern Care New Beacon hospice, especially nurses Kyle and Kendall, as well as to Dr. Heidt and his nurse Krystal.
