Memorial service for Douglas K. Smith, 64, of Decatur will be Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Smith, who died, Thursday, September 23, 2010, at Decatur General Hospital, was born October 2, 1945, in Hearst, Texas, to Keith Smith and Reba Smith. He was a retired mechanical engineer, local artist, helicopter pilot presidential detail for Lyndon Baynes Johnson, and a TVA nuclear engineer. He loved traveling, scuba diving, sailing, hiking, archaeology, fishing and photography. He was a naturalist and gun enthusiast. His father, Charles K. Smith, preceded him in death.
