Daphne, Ala.
Edward Lee Ratliff died May 1, 2011. He was born November 15, 1931 in Decatur and resided the past fourteen years in Daphne. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James B. Ratliff and Amy Speake Ratliff.
He is survived by his brother, James W. Ratliff and wife, Judith, of Daphne; and nephews, Lyle W. Ratliff, William Addison Ratliff and James G. Ratliff.
Mr. Ratliff was a member of Central Methodist Church in Decatur. He attended Riverside High School and was an honorable member of the U.S. Army. He was an avid collector of ancient native american artifacts. He was a long time member of the Rebel States Archaeological Society and received numerous awards for his artifacts. He recently donated 30 books on native americans to the Daphne Library.
The family will receive friends today, May 3, 2011, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Daphne. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery, The family will receive friends on hour prior to the service at Roselawn Funeral Home.
