Elizabeth "Libby" Pettey Summer passed away at 2 a.m. on November 1, 2014, at 86 years old. Libby is survived by her son, Ben T. Summer Jr. (Debra); daughter, Yvonne Schram (David); four grandchildren, Derek and Stephanie Summer and Bryan (Angela) and Jeremy (Jessica) Schram; four great-grandchildren, Dylan, Breyan, Avery and Ella Schram; two sisters, Joyce Hardemon and Mary Ann Guest; nieces, nephews and cousins. After graduating high school in Decatur, Libby attended Miami Business College and worked until Ben Summer Sr. invited her to New York where he was in show business, and proposed. They married in New York, and wanting to start a family, left show business eventually making their way back home, settling in Madison. They were married for 60 years. For 30 years until she was 81, Libby was one of the managers at the Huntsville Airport Motel. Visitation will be Thursday, November 6, 2014, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home in Decatur. Graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Decatur City Cemetery.
