

Services will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home, 741 Danville Road SW, Decatur, Alabama, on Wednesday, January 9. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m., with the Reverends Gary Heathcock and Jeff Sellers officiating. A reception will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Albany Bistro, 1051 Grant Street. SE, 256-686-1667.
Polly is predeceased by her husband, Ira Jackson Higginbotham (d. 1988), her father, Roy T. Rich, and mother Era Carr Rich, her brother, Mahlon Dudley Rich, and her dear friend and companion of over 20 years, Jimmie Adams.
She is survived by her two sons, Roy Jackson Higginbotham of Decatur, Alabama, and J. Michael Higginbotham (Joan) of Memphis, Tennessee, and daughter, Cindy Mullins (Mark), of Auckland, New Zealand; a sister, Martha Lovell (Adrian) of Sylacauga, Alabama, and brother, Ralph T. Rich of Decatur, Alabama.
She will also be missed by her beloved grandchildren, Stacey Peebles (Darrow), Hilton Treloar (Mark), Jay Higginbotham, Sara Thompson (Derek), Megumi Mullins and three great grandchildren, Taylor Peebles, Rowe Peebles, and Ross Treloar, and by her loving nieces and nephews.
Polly was a member of Ninth Street United Methodist Church and served in a variety of roles over the years. She was a dedicated member of the choir and women’s circles, taught Sunday School, and held leadership roles in United Methodist Women’s groups. She retired from Decatur Utilities in 1988. Polly enjoyed international and domestic travel with her sister and beloved niece, Jennifer Hardison (Don).
