Gregory Allen Russell, 73, of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. Graveside service will be on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Johnson Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Jimmy Meek officiating.
Greg is survived by his three daughters, Teresa Russell Hargrove, Tina Hooper and Brandy Waits; brother, Autry Russell; sister, Margaret Newsom; grandson, Aaron Hargrove (Courtney); granddaughter, Brooke Hargrove; 6 great grandsons, Braxton White, Zain Gilchrist, Brody Kitchens, Bryant Johnson, Braylon Johnson and Hunter Hargrove; one great great granddaughter, Aria White.
He was preceded in death by wife, Flora Russell; granddaughter, Brittany Ann Hargrove; two sisters, Mary Clanton and Clovis Sandlin; two brothers, Tennis Russell and Malcolm Russell.
Greg was an Army Vietnam Veteran. He loved hunting with his grandson, fishing and camping. Greg was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was dedicated and hardworking. Greg opened his heart and home to anyone that needed it. He was selfless and loving. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Hargrove, Hunter Hargrove, Myron Hargrove, Braxton White, Brody Kitchens, Richard Waits and Jason Hooper.
