
Funeral Service will be Thursday, February 2, 2012, 3:00 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:30-3:00 p.m. in the chapel. Officiating will be Gary Patton and L.D. Cary. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Whitmire served honorably in the Pacific with the 35th Fighter Group, United States Army Air Corp, during World War II and was awarded multiple campaign decorations and citations. He retired from Wolverine Tube as foreman after 36 years.
Mr. Whitmire was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, J.B. Whitmire, Jr. and Donald Whitmire.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Grace Whitmire; son, Harold Whitmire, Jr.(Cindy Whitmire); daughter, Mary Beth McCaleb (John McCaleb); sisters, Joyce Weaver (AQ Weaver)and Margaret Burks; grandchildren, Jesse McCaleb, Mary Ann Landers (Wesley Landers), Zoe Elizabeth Whitmire, John Tucker Whitmire and Thomas Whitmire McMeans; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jesse McCaleb, Tom McMeans, Wesley Landers, Marshall Taylor, Tim Taylor, Tucker Whitmire, Don Thompson and James Whitmire.
In lieu of flowers, the Whitmire family requests all donations should be sent to The Hospice of the Valley. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Timothy Weirich, M.D. and staff and HGA Home Health.
