

John Cullen “J.C.” Pace, Jr., 91, of Decatur, Alabama, died April 16, 2016, at home. Services will be Monday, April 18, 2016, at 3 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home, Pastors Chris Martin and Don Gentry officiating. Visitation will be 1 until 3 Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
J.C. was preceded in death by his father, John Cullen Pace, Sr., and mother, Minnie Willis Pace; six brothers and six sisters; and grandsons, Scott and Brad Sherrill.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Mattie Mae Pace; daughters, Patricia Ann “Pat” Moore (John), Connie Sue Urban (Charles), Beverly Sherrill (Gary); son, Donald Pace (Donna); grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Vernon Lane, Charles Urban, Jerome Pace, Gary Sherrill, Jeff Denard, and John Moore. Honorary pallbearers are Clint Moore, D.J. Pace, Greg Stricklin, Rod Stricklin, Brandon Melson, Ryan Sherrill, David Woodall, and Brent Watson.
J.C. was born in Russellville, Alabama, on August 8, 1924. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and received the Purple Heart Medal. After returning home, he met and married the love of his life, Mattie Mae Seay, on December 1, 1945. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Decatur, Alabama, where they made their home and reared four children.
J.C. was a longtime, loyal member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He retired from Wolverine Tube after 37 years. He was a dedicated Christian who loved his Lord and Savior, his family, and friends. He was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
