Mary Ann Keeton

Mary Ann Shirey Keeton, 75, of Athens, formerly of Somerville, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at her residence. Visitation will be Monday, January 28, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Roselawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at 3 p.m., at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Doug Ripley officiating.

Mrs. Keeton was born on January 27, 1937, to B.P. and Cordelia Ford Shirey.

Mrs. Keeton was a sales associate at Parisian. She loved singing and sharing God's word. She also wrote poetry and short stories.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Garland Keeton; her parents; and three sisters, Dorthy, Agnese, and Peggy.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Birdwell (Ronny) of Athens; two sons, Allen Keeton of Hartselle and Johnny Keeton of Decatur; two brothers, Clifford Shirey of Athens and Wayne Shirey of Harvest; one sister, Joyce O'dell of Claysville, AL.; nine grandchildren, Amber Clark, Heather Thomas, Leah Bates, Jamie Holt, James Keeton, Stephen Keeton, Ashley Keeton, Kelsey Keeton, and Analise Keeton; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Thomas, Ethan Thomas, Evan Thomas, Drew Altman, James Keeton, Stephen Keeton, Ricky Hamilton, and Hal Hammett.
