Nancy Jones

Nancy Katherine Jones passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025 at Westminster Assisted Living in Decatur, Alabama. A visitation will be held at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church in Decatur, Alabama on December 1, 2025 beginning at 12:30 PM, followed by a funeral service.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Charles Gordon Jones (2017), daughter Jennifer Jones Day (2021) of Hueytown, Alabama, sister Shirley Jones Marks of Savannah, Georgia and brother Earl P. Jones Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland. She is survived by two children, Katherine Jones Patterson of Decatur and Charles Gordon Jones Jr. of Decatur; four grandchildren, Justin Cuyler Holt of Dothan, Alabama, Megan Holt Capers of Auburn, Alabama, Jeffrey Beasley of Athens, Alabama, and Jared Beasley of Scarsdale, New York; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nancy was born January 13, 1931 in Savannah, Georgia to Earl P. Jones and Norma K. Jones. She graduated from Savannah High School in 1949 where she was a cheerleader. She attended Armstrong College and married Gordon Jones on October 21, 1950. Nancy became a draftsman for the Corps of Engineers in Savannah while raising her three children before the family moved to Alabama in 1965. She enjoyed cooking for her family and was an excellent seamstress, making many dresses for her two daughters. She also enjoyed traveling, playing bridge and was an avid golfer while living in Decatur. She was a devoted wife and mother and will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Westminster Assisted Living and the nurses of Hospice of the Valley for their dedicated and compassionate care for our mother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
