

Phillip Tucker Marshall, a beloved member of the Auburn family, passed away on January 30, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on December 25, 1949, in Birmingham, Alabama, Phillip was a dedicated father, grandfather, and a respected journalist known for his coverage of Auburn sports.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Marshall, whom he met in March 1976 while playing tennis in Birmingham. They married four months later in Clanton and were happily married at the time of his passing. July 1st would have marked their 50th wedding anniversary. Phillip is also survived by his children, Jonathan Marshall, Chrissie Marshall, and Bennett Marshall, along with seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Phillip was preceded in death by his father, Bennett Marshall, mother, Ruth Marshall, brothers David Marshall and Matthew Marshall, and sister Ellen Marshall.
Phillip had a storied journalism career, winning numerous awards, including being named Alabama Sportswriter of the Year twice and receiving the Herby Kirby award for best story twice. He is best known for his coverage of Auburn sports, which has been his focus for the last 30 years. He is a beloved member of the Auburn family.
A visitation will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home, located at 741 Danville Road SW, Decatur, AL 35601, on February 3, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life at the same venue from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Birmingham or Children's Hospital in Birmingham.
