

Saramay Culp Wyle passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010. Sally, as she was known to family and friends, was 92 years old. She was born in Cole Point, Pa., and grew up in nearby Plymouth Meeting as the second of six children born to Winfield and Gertrude Culp. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ainslie “Pop” Wyle.
Sally had lived in Decatur since 1941, when her husband purchased The Tennessee Valley Press, a commercial printing company that is still in operation today. The couple was married in Decatur in 1938 by her father-in-law, Dr. Edwin Wyle, pastor of The First Christian Church. She had been an active and faithful member of that church for 69 years. She taught the Elementary Sunday school class and Bible school for more than 30 years. Sally was a homemaker who led an active life in the community. She was integral to the family business and enjoyed gardening, long walks at Point Mallard and visiting with neighbors. She loved nothing better than raising their family in Decatur and participating in the life of the community, including The Decatur Mother’s Club, Band Mother, PTA, and Cub Scouts.
Sally is survived by two sons, Edwin Winfield Wyle and his wife, Barbara, who reside in Decatur, and John Carter Wyle, who lives in Atlanta with his wife, Barbara. Grandchildren include Jeffry Packard Wyle and his wife, Charlene, of Boston, Ga., Elizabeth “Beth” Wyle of Chapel Hill, N.C., Bryan Scott Hudgins and wife, Megan, of Atlanta and Mary Kathryn Wyle, who now resides in Williamstown, Mass. There are three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Robert L. Culp and his wife, Carolyn, of Norristown, Pa., and Donald R. Culp and his wife, Blanch, of Tamarac, Fla., along with 19 nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at The First Christian Church Friday beginning at 11 a.m., and a Celebration of Life will follow at 1 p.m.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The First Christian Church or to Hospice of North Alabama.
Roselawn Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
