Funeral service for Susie Corrine Smith, 85, of Decatur will be Friday, April 8, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Lowery officiating. Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Smith, who died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, was born January 21, 1926, in Decatur to Frank and Flora Shafer. She was retired from Monsanto and was a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church in Decatur. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell; daughter, Michelle; grandson, Ryan; and brother, Kenneth.
She is survived by one son, James Dennis Sherrill of Somerville; one daughter, Brenda Sherrill Nielsen of Oxford; one brother, Frank Shafer and his wife, Joe, of Decatur; one sister, Peggy Shafer Flanagan and her husband, N.H., of Millbrook; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her dear friends, Diane and Bill Freeman.
Pallbearers will be Shannan Sherrill, Bill Freeman, Jimmy Rombokas, Jim Mac Burchell, Steve McConnell, Bobby McConnell, Bradley Fitzgerald and Allen Jenkins.
