Funeral service for Walter Lewis Jones of Decatur was in Roselawn Chapel at 11 a.m. with visitation at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 31, 2011. Rev. Jerry Taylor and Rev. Jeff Sellers officiated with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Jones died Saturday, January 29, 2011, at River City Care & Rehab. Mr. Jones was born January 5, 1917. He is survived by son, Dr. Ron Jones and wife, Loy, of Hoover; daughter, Shirley Brothers and husband, Charles, of Decatur; three grandchildren, Kerry Jones and wife, Cindy, of Morris, Maynard Brothers and wife, Lucia, of Trussville, Allison Speegle and husband, Mark, of Decatur; give great-grandchildren, Ryan Jones, Caitlin Brothers, Jonathan, Jennifer and Laura Speegle; one great-great-grandchild, Brooklyn Speegle; one sister, Emma Jones. He was preceded in death by Catherine Jones, his wife for 75 years.
He was a lifelong resident of Morgan County, a member of Ninth Street United Methodist Church, and the Masonic Lodge.
