

Wanda (Wendy) Maistkowski Carrier age 103 of Decatur, AL passed away on February 10, 2022 at NHC nursing home in Moulton, AL. Her visitation will be on February 15, 1:30-2:15 PM with Celebration of Life at 2:30 at Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Merrill officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
She was born in South Deerfield, MA on December 3, 1918 and grew up in nearby Hatfield, MA. Where she was educated in the Hatfield school system and attended Smith Academy.
Wendy is survived by her daughters Beverly (Leon) Pierce of Flintville, TN and Brenda (Kenneth) McCown of Trinity, AL; grandchildren Kirk (Leah) Pierce, Keith Pierce, Kyle (Amber) Pierce, Sean (Leslie) McCown, Christopher McCown and Jacque (Shawn) Wilson; great-grandchildren Caleb Pierce, Hannah (Ross) Pate, John Michael Pierce, Kaitlyn Pierce, Kolton Pierce, Kellan Pierce, Olivia Pierce, Haley McCown, Kevin Vinson, Kenney McCown, Scott Wilson, and Justin Wilson; great-great-grandchildren Dean Tate, Rylan Young, Hallie Wilson, and Harmonee Foster.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Carrier, parents Joseph and Stephania (Zelewski) Maistkowski, sisters: Helen Wandeloski, Jennie Widelo, Blanche Jablonski, Regina Skubisewski, Pauline Walendzik, and brothers Stanley Maistkowski and Walter Maistkowski.
Wendy married John Carrier on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1943 and they were together until his death in 2010. They lived in Northampton, MA and then Florence, MA until John's work transferred him to Decatur, AL in 1962 where they continued to live, except for a 2-year work assignment in Paris, France. She loved her time in Paris, but was happy to return to her family and many friends in Decatur. She loved her home, antiques, entertaining, cooking for family and friends, and had a passion for gardening. Her family was always her priority.
She was an active member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church in Decatur.
