is a mouthful. Did you know anyone by this name? For many of us this is the
first time we are hearing the name because the owner had never
broadcast it. Almost all of us knew him only as Fudgie.
Mr. Aloysius Augustus Dunkley was born March 15, 1932, in Kingston, Jamaica,
West Indies. The nickname Fudgie as he was affectionately known was
attached to him as a result of him using his money to buy only Fudge for
his lunch at school. Fudgie was 81 years old when he died. He would want
you to know that he lived his life to its fullest. He had a love for his liquor
especially his white rum and beer. He was an excellent chef and loved to prepare
meals for anyone who was willing to eat. Fudgie was also a numbers man. He
never got enough of playing his numbers. If you had a dream and needed it
interpreted to numbers, all you had to do was pick up the phone and call Fudgie.
He would conjure up the numbers affiliated to your dreams. Even in sickness
Fudgie would have his wife Vashti running out daily to play the noontime numbers. Sports were another big passion for Fudgie. You would often find him watching
his European soccer, football and baseball.
Fudgie had a big generous heart. He was kind to strangers as well as his
friends and family. He would take his shirt off his own back
and give it to you if you needed it.
Fudgie met the love of his life 48 years ago. He struck gold when Vashti Smith
agreed to be his wife. She has always been by his side sharing both the best and
worst times with him. She never faltered in her love for him. Fudgie fought hard
during his sickness not to leave Vashti. You see, he was always fretting about
how she would cope if he wasn’t around. On July 1st, 2013, after reassurance
that Vashti would be able to carry on without him, Fudgie gave up his fight
and went home to join their son Donovan.
