Our mom Arleen Janet Mazzone, a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and cherished great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2024 in the presence of Jesus. Mom was born on January 3, 1941 in Bayridge, Brooklyn, to Johan and Aagot Johnsen.
She moved to Deer Park, New York as a child with her parents and her grandparents, Peter and Jacobine Thorkelsen.
Mom was a woman of unwavering faith, a born-again Christian who walked with her Lord Jesus Christ everyday of her life. Her strong family values and deep-rooted Christian beliefs were evident in every aspect of her life. On April 24, 1960, she married the love of her life, Robert Anthony Mazzone, with whom she shared many wonderful years until his passing in 2006.
Mom's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to her three sons, Robert (Lisa), John (Judy), and Glenn (Kerry), whom she loved unconditionally. She was immensely proud of her nine grandchildren: Anastasia, Alexandra, Nina Marie, Glenn Mitchell, Shelby, Nicholas, Samantha, Tiffany and Preston. Her eight great-grandchildren, Aubrie, Holden, Raleigh, Linden, Troy, Serafina, Daijah and Rory, brought her endless happiness and filled her with love.
Family meaut the world to Mom, and she cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a pillar of strength, a guiding light, and her family's biggest fan. Mom was also a great defender of her pets, showing them the same love and compassion she gave to her loved ones.
Mom will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, her infectious laughter, and her genuine love for others. She never had a bad word for anybody and touched the lives of all who knew ber. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
In addition to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Mom is survived by her brother, Jerry, sister, Linda and many nieces and nephews whom she adored. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
