After living a wonderful, long life, Carmela “Camille” Agugliaro passed away on April 8, 2025, at the age of 92, on Long Island, NY. The matriarch of her loving family, she was always the source of wisdom and great Italian food. Despite recent ailments and the inevitable aging process slowing her down over the past year, she was proud to share that her key to a long life was her clean living. She fully expected to live for many more years so that she can be present at all her grandchildren’s weddings. Now she will have the best seat in the house!
She graduated with a degree from Brooklyn College in 1952, and she was described in her high school yearbook with the following words… “Charm, simplicity and real vitality gives this girl her personality”
Carmela was devoted to her Catholic faith and her family. She was in charge of all the financial matters for her husband’s masonry business and juggled her work responsibilities with raising her four children; always having a wonderful meal on the table for a daily family dinner.
She knew the love of her life, Pasquale who recently predeceased her, for 70 years. Although she played hard to get at the dance where he pursued her, she fell in love with him, and they proceeded to enjoy 67 years of marriage together.
She leaves behind three beautiful children: Maria Giaccone (Frank), Camille Wrynn, and BJ (Jeannine) and joins her daughter Roseann who also recently passed away. She had eight grandchildren, whom she adored: Frank and Chris Giaccone, Patrick and Christina Wrynn and Katherine, Chris, Gabrielle and Mary Agugliaro as well as a great granddaughter, Liana. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Ann and Rosemary, her sister-in-law Nina, and numerous caring nieces and nephews.
We will miss her love of family, the wonderful smells of her cooking and her hugs adorned in her apron.
A visitation for Carmela will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Boyd-Caratozzolo Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur Friday, April 11, 2025, at 9:15 AM at Saints Cyril and Methodius RC Church, 125 Half Hollow Road, Deer Park, NY. A burial will occur Friday, April 11, 2025, at 10:45 AM at St Charles Cemetery, 2015 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY.
