Diego B. Zabala, Jr. was born on July 2, 1949 in the Dagupan City (Pangasinan, Philippines) and was the third of eight children of Francesa and Diego Zabala, Sr. He immigrated to Bushwick, Brooklyn in the 1970s where he met his wife of 44 years, Priscila Siagan Zabala. Diego and Priscila lived their American dream in Staten Island, New York and raised their children, Mark and Cheryl, in Old Town. Diego was a natural athlete and enjoyed watching New York sports and CNBC, cooking, and fixing everything for everyone. He especially loved spoiling grandsons, Matty and Mikey. Diego battled rectal cancer for the last 10 months and passed away peacefully on August 27th surrounded by family. He is now resting with his parents, mother-in-law, brother Rolando, and best friend, Prince. He is survived by his beloved wife, children, daughter-in-law Maribel, grandsons, 5 brothers and 1 sister, and many Zabala aunts, uncles and cousins.
