Eva Jane Morris was born in Walterboro, South Carolina on July 30, 1931, to her parents Robert and Elenora Adams. She was the youngest of three children. Her eldest brother Robert Adams who is deceased and her loving sister Minnie Lee Ancrum. Robert and Elenora Adams were passionate entrepreneurs who owned one of the best neighborhood stores in Walterboro. Eva’s parents also owned a beautiful church in Walterboro. While Eva’s father, Robert ran the neighborhood store, Eva’s mother, Elenora Adams was the Pastor of the church and made sure her children attended Sunday service and bible study.
Eva attended and graduated from Waterboro High school. Upon graduating high school, she left Walterboro, South Carolina and moved to New York City. After living in New York for a few years she met and married the late Albert Lee Morris Sr. on December 19, 1953. After their marriage they moved to the Bronx, New York where they had three children Gwendolyn, Carol and Albert.
In 1965, Albert and Eva Morris purchased a brand-new house in Wyandanch, New York and moved their family out of the Bronx. Eva devoted her time caring for her children while they were young keeping them busy with various after school activities. Eva loved experiencing new places. Every summer she would take her children on new adventures where they would experience the various wonders of the United States. Once her children reached their teenage years, she decided to join the work force as a sales associate for Modell’s Sporting Goods. She worked for Modell’s for many years before retiring as a department manager. One of Eva’s satisfying accomplishments was becoming a union representative for Modell’s store employees. All the employees loved Eva because she truly cared about them and was always eager to fight for what was fair.
Eva and Albert were married for 42 years before Albert was called home to be with the Lord. Eva was very family oriented. She was a kind hearted women who placed her family above everything. She also made sure to always keep in touch with her extended family. When her grandchildren were born, she was able to resume her love of adventures. Eva would always attend her granddaughters dance recitals and would greet them with flowers when the recital was complete. Eva also loved summer trips to Charlotte, North Carolina to visit her daughter Gwen and her grandson Kenneth. They would go to various events that were taking place in Charlotte during the summer. Eva enjoyed taking her grandchildren on trips to new places. One of her favorite trips was with her granddaughters to Myrtle Beach, where she got a chance to beat them at mini golf.
Eva Jane Morris passed away at the age of eighty-nine on April 26, 2021. She was surrounded by her loving daughters, son, daughter in-law and granddaughters when she passed. Eva Jane Morris is survived by her sister Minnie Lee Ancrum, two daughters, Gwendolyn Page, Carol Morris, her son Albert Morris, daughter in-law Terry Morris, three grandchildren: Kenneth Page, Brittany Morris and Autumn Morris, plus several nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.
Eva was loved and will never be forgotten. She will be missed and will forever be in our hearts.
