George Rooney

George Rooney, 80, of Deer Park, NY passed away on December 25, 2021. Proud veteran of the United States Army and after twenty years of service, retired in 1988 from the New York City Police Department. Ever since he was a kid, he enjoyed spending his summer’s in Newport, Rhode Island. Over the years he developed a passion for golf and you could always find him with his nose in a good book or doing the daily crossword puzzles in Newsday. Occasionally he found luck on his side while playing Lotto and winning bets on horse racing. While he had many passions and interests, at the end of the day, his heart and world belonged to his six magnificent grandkids.

George is survived by his loving wife, Monica and children Keith (Kathy), Jennifer Decker (Charles) and Elizabeth Miranda (John). Cherished grandfather to Jack, Morgan, Mollie, Erin, Johnny and Kevin. Beloved brother to Rosaleen Myers.

Visitation for George will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 3-7 PM at Claude R. Boyd-Caratozzolo Funeral Home, 1729 Deer Park Avenue, Deer Park, NY 11729. A mass of Christian burial will occur at 10:15 AM on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Ss. Cyril and Methodius R.C. Church, Deer Park. Interment to follow at Long Island National Cemetery.
